(from the Chamber of Commerce Announcement)

What is instant runoff voting? In growing numbers, municipalities around the country are considering using instant runoff voting (IRV) in local elections. Proponents say it elects the candidate most voters want, while opponents worry about additional cost and confusion to voters. Last fall, Minneapolis approved a measure to use IRV in its elections and now Saint Paul is considering the use of IRV for mayoral and city council races. Attend this forum to hear differing perspectives from speakers on how IRV works, what it costs, if it affects voter turnout and if it favors any particular political party. Issue Forum Luncheons are held throughout the year to provide Chamber members with an opportunity to learn more about current issues from differing viewpoints and engage in discussion. The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce has not taken a position on IRV.
