On A Roll | DFL Update | Chamber of Commerce | Participate: Let Us Eat Cake/Do Da Data/Autographs, Please! ON A ROLL! The Better Ballot Campaign roared into the month of May. Petitioners picked up 500 signatures at various events in St. Paul over May Day weekend. As has been the rule, city residents are very supportive and encouaging when asked to sign on for IRV. In addition, the campaign picked up the public support of Take Action Minnesota, the DFL Feminist Caucus, the LexHam Community Council AND Former Mayor George Latimer! Help us gather signatures and secure public support! We're on a roll! DFL UPDATE
We continue to shore up support on the IRV drive to the DFL city convention. At last weekend's convention planning meetings, IRV support was very strong and visible in every committee. We are making efforts to get the IRV measure appropriate play time, as well as top billing in the June 9 convention. It is our goal to promise delegates a short time committment on what is turning out to be a very busy day of the year. Mark your calendar for the morning of June 9th, delegate or not. We have been invited to participate the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce Issue Forum on May 10. This 12:00-1:30pm session includes lunch and a panel discussion about the IRV campaign in St. Paul. Please join us as we take the IRV message to the Chamber of Commerce and ask for its endorsement. A vote of confidence from the Chamber would help demonstrate the non-partisan nature and widespread benefit of IRV in our municipal elections. PARTICIPATE!
Let Us Eat Cake! It's time you had a house party. The Better Ballot Campaign needs a bigger base of foot soldiers in St. Paul. Have a party and invite your connected St. Paul friends. It's a great way to have a get-together while you do something great for democracy. We will provide a speaker to do an IRV presentation and hold an IRV election, provided you share the cake, cheese, wine, tapas with us. If you like to do good advocacy work in the comfort of your pajammies, consider doing data entry work for the Better Ballot Campaign. As the signatures roll in, the data entry need continues to increase. Please contact info@betterballotcampaign.org to help out. We Need Autographs. Collecting signatures is energizing, but it takes time. Please help lighten the load. Here's how: First, bring a petition every where you go! There's one right here. You never know when you might end up in a sea of St. Paul registered voters clamoring to sign it. It happens. Second, check in www.betterballotcampaign.org for suggested places to petition. In addition to those listed, consider recruiting some friends to help gather signatures at HGRA Soccer games, at end-of-the-school-year events, and at all of those 5K races you signed up for.
