TakeAction Minnesota Endorses Instant Runoff Voting in Saint Paul!TakeAction Minnesota Endorses Instant Runoff Voting in Saint Paul! TakeAction Minnesota has long been dedicated to making our Democracy work. At the state legislature we've fought for campaign finance reform and voting rights. The campaign to establish Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) in the City of Saint Paul continues this tradition. IRV strengthens our democracy by providing a more accurate reflection of the will of voters in municipal elections. Under IRV, voters in Saint Paul Mayoral & City Council races would rank their preference for all candidates in a given race. If no candidate gets 50% of voters first choices then the votes of supporters for a last place candidate would be reapportioned among frontrunners according to those voters second and third choices until one candidate achieves a majority. For Saint Paul to join Minneapolis as an IRV city we need to place an IRV charter amendment on the ballot in the November 2007 elections and vote for it. To find out more how IRV works and to sign a petition to get IRV on the ballot contact the St. Paul Better Ballot Campaign. »
