SAINT PAUL BETTER BALLOT CAMPAIGN SEEKS DEMOCRACY INTERNS
Join the fun and be a part of a growing movement for better democracy. The St. Paul Better Ballot Campaign for Instant Runoff Voting is looking for 4 to 9 people in the Twin Cities to fill good paying positions as signature gatherers. The Saint Paul Better Ballot Campaign is a ballot measure campaign seeking to put Instant Runoff Voting on the November ballot. Full training will be provided and you will report directly to the campaign manager.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must live in the Twin Cities metro area and be able to commute to Saint Paul.
Must be available to work most of the weeks between now and August 14.
Must be interested in working to put Instant Runoff Voting on the ballot in Saint Paul this November so that voters will have:
- Better choice: With Instant Runoff Voting, ALL voters can choose from ALL the candidates at ONE general election (primary is eliminated).
- Better participation: Instant Runoff Voting encourages voter participation by increasing the variety and number of candidates on the ballot.
- Better representation: Instant Runoff Voting assures fairer and more accurate representation of voters and empowers sincere voting--eliminating concern for vote wasting.
- Better campaigns: Instant Runoff Voting leads to more informative and positive campaigns.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Attend events such as parades, concerts and outdoor public gatherings or stand in front of a designated local retail businesses, such as markets and coops.
Talk to people about the Instant Runoff Voting campaign and collect their signatures to put IRV on the ballot. Approach and connect with people as they enter, attend and leave events, with passers-by as they walk by, or with shoppers as they exit a business. (There is nothing to sell, you are simply asking for a minute of their time to sign a petition).
Work at least 8 and up to 20 hours per week.
Report on how many signatures you have gathered every day to the campaign office.
Receive a bi-weeky paycheck from the campaign office.
PAY:
$6.00 per hour plus $1.00 Per Valid (Registered Voter) Signature
AVERAGE NUMBER OF VALID SIGNATURES GATHERED EACH HOUR PER PETITIONER:
10-20
NUMBER OF POSITIONS OPEN:
